Projekte zur Weltausstellung „Shanghai 2010“
Der deutsch/niederländische Bildhauer Peter H. van de Locht, der im öffentlichen Raum Düsseldorfs durch mehrere Kunstwerke vertreten ist, hat für die Weltausstellung 2010 in Shanghai drei Projekte entwickelt, in die DUS-Illuminated als Lichtberater eingebunden ist:
- das Projekt „Five-Ports of Shanghai“
- das Projekt „Bridge-Sculpture Düsseldorf-Shanghai“
- das Projekt „Shanghai Pavillion“
Five-Ports
Das Projekt „Five Ports of Shanghai“ sieht fünf ca. 60 – 80m hohe Torskulpturen vor, die an verschiedenen Stellen der Stadt als Glasarchitekturen aufgestellt werden sollen. Das so genannte „Sea Gate“ und das „Sky Gate“ eignen sich besonders für die von DUS-illuminated empfohlene Illuminationen.
Der Künstler hat der Messe Düsseldorf vorgeschlagen, das für Shanghai vorgesehene „Skygate“ in einer kleineren Version an der Messe Düsseldorf als Symbol der Partnerschaft Düsseldorf-Shanghai aufzustellen.
Sie sehen die Animation der 60 bis 80 m hohen Torskulpturen, wenn Sie auf eines der angegebenen „Gates“ klicken. Da der Ladevorgang ein wenig Zeit benötigt, starten Sie am besten mit dem „Gate of Beginning“.
Bridge Sculpture: Shanghai – Düsseldorf
Die Visualisierung der Beziehung Düsseldorfs zu Shanghai – die Messe Düsseldorf ist in Shanghai an der GEC (German Exposition Center) beteiligt – soll durch ein Projekt, das auf die Weltausstellung Bezug nimmt, dokumentiert werden.
Location:
One end-part of the bridge sculpture will be placed in Rhein River near Düsseldorf Messe whereby the other end-part of the bridge will be placed in Huangpu River in Shanghai.

Set up:
The art design will be based on the SKY GATE from FIVE PORTS OF SHANGHAI. Both end-parts of the bridge will be shaped in such a way that the image of a transition from solid form into the space will be created for a viewer. Above each end-part of the bridge a 3D rotating viewer will be integrated in the sculpture. In this viewer the other end-part of the bridge will be presented and seen from from all directions from outside.This presentation will be made as online satellite transmission secured by DLR and China Airspace. In each end-part of the bridge a sky hotel will be integrated in the sculpture.
The other Options are:
• to integrate a space hotel in Düsseldorf end part
• to integrate a space tea house in Shanghai end part
Additionally in each end part of the bridge a space transfer room will be arranged. The exit from this room in each hotel to the open space will be designed as a virtual passage over the space bridge.
The walls of each space transfer room will be made of a special glass where a continous satellite transmission from opposite bridge site (the other city) will be presented. At the same time the sound of the other city will be spread over the space transfer room. This simoltonus picture and sound image of the opposite bridge end generated in the space transfer room of each bridge end will give to every visitor of the space transfer room an experience of the very long bridge spread between Rhein and Huangpu rivers. This space bridge will be recorded in the Genois record list as the longest space bridge of the world.
The same experience of the very long bridge will be given to the outside visitors thanks to 3-D rotating viewer located above each end-part of the bridge and transnuting the surrounding pictures from opposite side of the bridge. By recording the sound of each city at one end and by transmitting it through sa¬tellite link to the other end where the sound will be composed by the inferior of the sculpture as a city music in the space transfer room will make from the sculpture a state-of-the-art CITY MUSIC SCULPTURE where at the same time at both ends of the sculpture the music from 2 different cities of the world will be composed and performed.
This longest space bridge of the world integrated between 2 cities „music sculptures will link 2 cities SHANGHAI AND DÜSSELDORF with art, image, space technology and desire for being closer when distanced so far.
Thanks to this bridge even the sky is not a limit for Shanghai and for Düsseldorf. The term ‚far‘ (ying) has met the term ‚close‘ (yang) on the space bridge SHANGHAI – DÜSSELDORF. One of the oldest Chinese wisdoms has been once again confirmed.

Shanghai – Pavillion
Das zweite Projekt ist der Vorschlag eines Wahrzeichens zur Weltausstellung 2010 unter dem Titel „Shanghai-Pavillion“. Das Kunstwerk soll von innen und außen angestrahlt werden. In Zusammenarbeit mit der TU Delft wurde eine besondere Technik zur Energieerzeugung entwickelt, die die benötigte Energie aus dem „Tiefwasserwellenschlag gewinnt.
